Our design for Bicton Street delivers a sensitive, environmentally responsive enhancement of an Edwardian residence within the Plenty River corridor. Integrating Passive House principles, the project achieves high energy efficiency while preserving the character and scale of the streetscape.
Stage 1 upgrades the existing dwelling with improved insulation, waterproofing, and double-glazed airtight windows, enhancing thermal performance and longevity. Stage 2 introduces rear additions: a single-storey skillion-roofed kitchen and a two-storey gabled volume housing living spaces below and a master suite above, set back to maintain the heritage frontage as the primary visual element.
Responding to the surrounding parkland, the design incorporates a native landscape strategy, stormwater management, and high-performance building systems to minimise ecological impact. Integrated thoughtfully within its natural setting, the project enhances local amenity and neighbourhood character while exemplifying sustainable, high-quality residential design.
